Join the 2024 Pride 4 the Patch Fitness Challenge

FITNESS CHALLENGE

The inaugural Pride 4 the Patch Fitness Challenge was initiated in January 2018 with over 180 participants. The 2019 Pride 4 the Patch Fitness Challenge also had approximately 180 participants. This was designed as a three month fitness challenge for first responders from surrounding agencies within Pima County, Arizona.  There was an emphasis on improving overall “fitness levels”, as opposed to simply losing weight during this challenge.  Therefore, several rules were established. Thank you for your interest in competing in the 2024 challenge.

STARtS: January 8-12, 2024

ENDS: march 25-29, 2024

*To participate please first download the InBody App before the weigh in.

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  •  The percentage of Total Fat Loss combined with the total percentage of Lean Muscle Gained will determine each participant’s total score.

  • The results will be tallied and determined by the Inbody Results. The fitness challenge committee will have all results maintained in their computer.

  • The Top 3 Scores from each First Responder Organization and Non-Sworn Group participating would be combined to determine which Agency/Group would win the fitness challenge (2 Belts being presented).

In an attempt to provide a fair, impartial, and accurate scoring method for this challenge, all participants must conduct a pre and post-InBody Test.  The InBody body composition analyzer measures your body and provides a detailed, yet easy-to-understand report. On your results sheet, you will see how many kilograms of fat and muscle is on your body and where it is located. By monitoring these metrics over time, you can pinpoint the changes needed in your diet and exercise to achieve your goals. A small example of the metrics found on an InBody results sheet:

  • Total skeletal muscle mass

  • Total body fat in kilograms

  • Total body fat percentage

  • Visceral fat

  • Total body water

  • Segmental muscle and fat analysis

  • Bone mineral content

  • Basal metabolic rate

What sets InBody apart from generic BIA devices?

InBody is the only BIA device that does not use age and gender to make assumptions in your body composition measurement. InBody’s patented technology is unique, as it scans you for you. The results are extremely precise and as unique as the person standing on the device. You can change your age and/or gender on an InBody device and your measurement will not change, as YOU have not changed. This is one of the underpinning reasons why InBody is used in extensive studies and utilized by top sports people, medical institutions, and NASA. InBody is currently used in over 70 countries worldwide.

If you don't work at the facility, please give the facilitator a call/text and let them know you will be coming to use it to gain access to the building.

TPD and MPD will ensure we have a PT Instructor/ Wellness team member there to help sort out any chaos and to help with the flow on your test date.  The Inbody is quick so it should take a lot less time than in years past (average 15-20 min).

  1. First-come First-serve so be patient and we will require everyone to maintain social distancing.

  2. MPD will provide an officer to do the data input into the Xcell file. Likely the same person all week to help things run smoothly

  3. All agencies except TPD will use their agency initials followed by their badge/employee ID for the INBODY log in (exp MPD1234).

  4. The roster and spread sheet will be used and passed on at each weigh-in.

Many Agencies have allowed personnel to go on duty for this test.  If the identified dates absolutely do not work for your team/members, please advise as soon as able – We will make an attempt to accommodate, if able.
