TOWN COUNCIL

Marana operates under a council-manager form of government, which combines the political leadership of elected officials with the managerial experience of an appointed professional manager.

The Town Council is responsible for:

  • Setting public policy
  • Approving the annual budget
  • Entering into agreements
  • Providing long-term vision for the Town
  • Making planning and development decisions
  • Adopting codes and ordinances

The Town Manager is responsible for:

  • Day-to-day administrative duties
  • Preparing a budget for the Town Council's consideration
  • Recruiting, hiring, and supervising Town staff
  • Serving as the Town Council's chief advisor and carrying out Town Council policies
  • Providing complete and objective information, including alternatives and long-term outcomes
  • Successfully leading the organization
