ABOUT

The Marana Regional Airport (AVQ) is classified as a general aviation reliever airport for Tucson International. It is located approximately 15 nautical miles northwest of Tucson and is 5 miles west of Interstate 10 on Avra Valley Road. The airport is home to more than 260 based aircraft and had more than 90,000 takeoffs and landings in 2014. The airport's main runway is 6,901 feet and the crosswind runway is 3,892 feet.

PROJECT UPDATES

AIRPORT CONTROL TOWER- Marana Regional Airport has been accepted into the Federal Contract Tower Program. The anticipated schedule is as follows:

2021: Tower Siting Study
2022: Environmental Assessment
2023: Control Tower Design
2024: Control Tower Construction

DRONE EDUCATION - As drones become more popular for both professional and recreational use, the FAA has released drone protocol to maintain safe skies, and Libby Army Airfield has released a safety guide for drone use
