Tangerine Interchange 2025

Marana, AZ – The Town of Marana has received confirmation from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) that right-of-way permits for the Tangerine Traffic Interchange (TI) Improvement Project have been processed. This significant step moves the project closer to construction.

The planned improvements at the Tangerine Traffic Interchange will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. Key features include dual right-turn lanes for eastbound Tangerine Road onto eastbound I-10, relocating the signalized ramp on the west side of I-10 to provide more stacking space for vehicles, adding an exclusive left-turn lane for the westbound off-ramp, and providing an additional through lane in each direction of travel on Tangerine Road behind the abutment lanes, similar to the existing configuration at Cortaro Road and I-10. These will be interim improvements, as the long-term plan is to eventually reconstruct the entire Tangerine Road interchange.

Once construction begins, the duration of the project is anticipated to last approximately eighteen months.

The Tangerine Traffic Interchange Improvement Project plays an integral role in the capacity improvements achieved by the adjacent Tangerine Road Widening Phase 2A project. The widening of Tangerine Road is a collaborative effort between the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and the Town of Marana to improve Tangerine Road from Interstate-10 to east of Marana Tech Drive. The project includes constructing a four-lane roadway with upgraded drainage, sidewalks, ADA-accessible facilities, and a multi-use path. Additional work involves right-of-way acquisitions, utility relocations, Marana Water line extensions, and enhanced landscaping to support safety, accessibility, and long-term roadway performance.
