Teri Murphy has always had a passion for bringing people together and for assisting those in time of need. With a lifelong dedication to service, Teri has been an active and engaged member of both her local community and beyond.
While in college, she coached an 8th grade basketball team to a Championship and was involved in various organizations, including the Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and Nevada Cutting Horse Association. Teri served as the assistant director of the Nevada State Fair and held titles such as Miss Reno Rodeo and Miss Rodeo Nevada.
After College, Teri continued her professional journey with Coors Brewing Company, where she traveled extensively throughout the United States, promoting the sport of professional rodeo. Her role involved executing promotions, and participating in numerous radio, television, and newspaper events. She always took the time to support local rodeo committees with charity events.
While traveling, Teri met her husband, Devin Murphy of Arizona, who was attending college at the U of A and living in Marana. She has been married for over 29 years and has been blessed with an incredible son named Joseph and four amazing grandchildren.
Although Teri was not born in Marana, Arizona, she instantly fell in love with the Town and its people. She has had the pleasure of working alongside countless individuals to create and develop impactful events like the Marana Junior Rodeo Association and Marana’s Exceptional Rodeo for children with disabilities. She has also served as president of the Arizona Women’s Professional Rodeo Association, Grand Canyon Pro Rodeo Association, and Cowboys and Cowgirls Barrel Racing Association. In addition, she has spearheaded several local fundraising events and sponsored numerous charitable initiatives. Her main passion is preserving the western lifestyle and does so by volunteering her time to the Marana Heritage arena. She has also served on the MHC Healthcare Foundation Board, announces Marana Fall Festival, and serves as the emcee for the Town’s Founders’ Day Parade. Additionally, she is a strong advocate for education and frequently supports fundraisers for the University of Arizona and Marana FFA.
Although Teri and her husband own Freedom RV, she spends most of her time assisting with community events and helping families during one of life’s most difficult moments, funerals. This deep personal work has become a true passion for her, as she supports those during their most challenging times.
