Notice of Availability of A Finding of No Significant Impact and Record of Decision and a Final Environmental Assessment for a proposed Airport Traffic Control Tower at Marana Regional Airport, Pima County, Arizona.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has made a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Record of Decision (ROD) for a proposed new airport traffic control tower (ATCT) at Marana Regional Airport (AVQ). The FONSI/ROD is based on results documented in a Final Environmental Assessment (EA), completed in July, 2025. The FONSI indicates that the proposed action is consistent with existing national environmental policies and objectives as set forth in the National Environmental Policy Act, as well as special purpose laws, and would not significantly affect the quality of the human environment.
The Town of Marana, which operates the airport, seeks airport layout plan approval and federal funding from the FAA to design and construct the proposed ATCT, which will be operated by the FAA. The ATCT would enhance safety and efficiency by equipping and stationing controllers to communicate with pilots and direct aircraft movements. It would be sited on airport property, centrally located south of the intersection of Runways 12/30 and 3/21, with site access from the airport entrance north of West Avra Valley Road.
