Town of Marana receives Aaa credit rating

Marana, Ariz. – The Town of Marana has received an Aaa issuer rating from Moody’s Ratings, the highest credit rating assigned by the agency, based on the Town’s strong financial and economic position.
“This accomplishment confirms the Town’s strong financial position and reflects the Council’s consistent and responsible policy decisions over the many years they’ve served this community,” said Town Manager Terry Rozema.
Moody’s Ratings cited Marana’s significantly growing tax base, strong financial position, low leverage and fixed costs, robust operating reserves, and sound financial management as a reason for the rating, and noted that increased demand for housing and services, combined with substantial undeveloped, will lead to continued development activity.
“Achieving the highest possible credit rating is also a testament to the exceptional work of our staff. Their expertise, sound financial stewardship, and careful long-term planning have helped put the Town in a position to succeed today and well into the future,” said Rozema.
The Aaa rating places Marana among the highest-rated municipalities in Arizona, alongside Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, and Paradise Valley.
Gladden Farms (Phase II) CFD Receives AA1 Rating
In addition to the Town of Marana, Moody’s Ratings assigned an Aa1 rating to the Gladden Farms (Phase II) Community Facilities District. The District rates one notch below the Town’s Aaa issuer rating because of its smaller tax base.
Gladden Farms (Phase II) CFD encompasses approximately 633 acres in northwest Marana and was established in 2007 to provide infrastructure support development.
Aa1 is the second-highest rating in Moody’s rating scale.
