MARANA- The AVQ Marana Regional Airport is being recognized for its commitment to aviation safety and operational excellence.
The airport was honored with the Arizona Aviation Safety Advisory Group’s (ASAG) Airport of the Year Award at the organization’s 52nd Awards Banquet on February 7, 2026, in Phoenix. Airport Manager Galen Beem and Public Works Director Fausto Burruel accepted the award on behalf of the Town.
“The Town of Marana and Marana Regional Airport are honored to receive this award,” said Airport Manager Galen Beem. “Our airport staff are dedicated to promoting aviation safety and providing a safe and secure environment for all users. We couldn’t do this without the support of partners such as the Aviation Safety Advisory Group, the Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team, and the Flight Standards District Office of Scottsdale, who have led the way in advancing aviation safety. We look forward to the future and to continuing our support of general aviation.”
The airport was nominated by Lee Unger, a representative of the Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAAST).
ASAG is composed of volunteer aviators from across Arizona who work to promote safe practices through education, outreach, and recognition of excellence within the aviation community.
