MARANA- The Town of Marana is taking extra precautions to keep the community safe during the Founders’ Day Parade and Festivities on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
The Parks & Recreation Department is prioritizing heat safety and will increase the number of free water bottles available to the public during the event. An additional water refill station will be available, along with cooling stations equipped with fans. Sunscreen will also be provided to attendees while supplies last.
The lobby of the Ed Honea Marana Municipal Complex will be open as a cooling station and staffed by Parks & Recreation employees. The Marana Aquatic and Recreation Center (MARC) will open at 1 p.m. to allow guests to take breaks from the heat.
The Chalk Art Alley has been canceled to keep children off hot pavement.
Finally, the event hours have also been adjusted, with all festivities now ending at 2 p.m. due to extreme heat in the forecast.
The Town encourages all attendees to hydrate before and during the event. Vulnerable populations are advised to limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day. We encourage pet owners to leave pets at home for this event for their health and safety.
