Building the Town of Tomorrow: State of Town Highlights Year of Growth
Published on April 08, 2026
MARANA- Town of Marana Mayor Jon Post reflected on a year of growth, community engagement and major infrastructure planning as he delivered an upbeat address during the State of the Town luncheon at the Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
“Marana is built on a strong foundation,” Mayor Post said, citing dedicated town employees, business leaders, and residents as the driving force behind the town’s continued success.
This year’s theme was ‘Building the Town of Tomorrow’ and Mayor Post outlined what that means for the growing community in the future with a focus on proactive planning, regional collaboration and strategic investments in infrastructure.
Marana Regional Airport was recognized as a major community asset, earning “Airport of the Year” honors from the Arizona Aviation Safety Advisory Group. Building on that success, the Town is advancing construction of a new airport tower to enhance safety, operations, and economic opportunity.
A major focus of the address was also transportation. With voter approval of the RTA Next plan, Marana is preparing for long-term mobility improvements that will shape the community over the next two decades.
“Marana’s location along the Interstate makes us the gateway to Southern Arizona, so it’s important that we are good stewards of our region’s first impression. These are big, transformative projects that will make commutes smoother and prepare us for years of future growth,” said Mayor Post.
In addition to transportation, the Mayor highlighted drainage infrastructure as a key priority, pointing to the Barnett Linear Park project as a model of Marana’s approach. Designed to reduce floodplain impacts in North Marana, the project will also create a multi-use recreational space connected to the Chuck Huckleberry Loop. Fill out the project survey here.
“That’s the Marana approach. Taking something functional and turning it into something that enhances quality of life,” Mayor Post said.
Mayor Post concluded by reaffirming the Town Council’s unified vision for the community and excitement for the future.
The sold-out event was held in partnership with the Marana Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President and CEO Amanda Wiggins recognized the sponsors and businesses that keep Marana thriving, announcing a record breaking 820 businesses that are now members of the chamber.
“Marana continues to stand out as a powerful example of what’s possible when business and local government work in alignment, with shared goals and vision for the future,” said Amanda Wiggins.
The Town also proudly recognized these outstanding individuals and organizations making a difference in Marana.
