MARANA- The Town of Marana unveiled a new public art piece, “Points in Time”, during a small gathering on Friday, May 2, 2025, outside the Marana Aquatic and Recreation Center (MARC).
Town leadership, MARC project partners, Town staff, and artist Joseph O’Connell from Creative Machines celebrated the unveiling of the installation on the front exterior of the recreation center, which lit up as the sun set.
“It’s called Points in Time because you have points throughout our history. It really highlights our history and our culture which is something our council has been emphasizing for years,” said Town Manager Terry Rozema.
“What we set out to do is to capture the moments that made Marana what it is. So I invite you to take a stroll to compress over 10,000 years of history into two minutes,” said Artist and Founder of Creative Machines Joseph O’Connell. “My hope is that there are people depicted in these and that we have honored the lives that lived before that made our lives possible.”
The unveiling of “Points in Time” served as the kickoff to a celebratory weekend, with the dedication of “Jim Conroy Place” taking place that same evening and the MARC Grand Opening taking place the following day on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
