Marana Leaders Recognized at League of Arizona Cities and Towns

MARANA- Two longtime Town of Marana Council Members are being honored for their decades of public service.

Councilmember Herb Kai and Councilmember Patti Comerford were recently recognized at the League of Arizona Cities and Towns Annual Conference held in Scottsdale last month.

Councilmember Kai received the Local Elected Official Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding 32 years of public serviceThe Town also proudly celebrated Councilmember Patti Comerford for her 24 years of dedicated service to the community. Both honorees have made a lasting impact through their leadership and commitment to Marana’s growth and success.

"Councilmember Kai and Councilmember Comerford have given decades of dedicated service to the Town of Marana. Their vision and tireless work have helped shape Marana into the community we are so proud of today. On behalf of the Town, I want to thank them for all they have done. This recognition is truly well deserved," said Town of Marana Mayor Jon Post.

From August 19-22, 2025, the conference brought together more than 900 elected officials, municipal staff, and appointed leaders from across the state to share ideas, collaborate on solutions, and explore trends impacting Arizona communities.

In addition to celebrating these milestones, Marana also participated in the Cities and Towns Showcase, where municipalities highlighted their unique character and community spirit through creative and engaging displays.
