FATAL VEHICLE COLLISION INVESTIGATION

INTERSTATE 10 FRONTAGE ROAD NEAR MILE POST 241 (BETWEEN AVRA VALLEY RD. AND TANGERINE RD.)

Marana, AZ – On March 25th, 2026 at approximately 1:22 AM., Marana Police Department officers and personnel from the Northwest Fire District responded to a report of a 2-vehicle collision along the Interstate 10 Frontage Road, between West Tangerine Road and West Avra Valley Road. This stretch of roadway is located on the west side of Interstate 10. Officers located 5 individuals involved in the collision. Two of the individuals were unresponsive. Lifesaving efforts were attempted; however, 2 individuals were pronounced deceased on scene. The two individuals were identified as a 17-year-old juvenile female and 48-year-old Nora Saldana. Next of kin has been notified. The Marana Police Department Traffic Unit responded to continue the investigation.

Investigators interviewed involved parties and collected roadway evidence. The involved vehicles have been identified as a 2003 Jeep Liberty and a 2021 Honda Civic. One individual occupied the Jeep Liberty, and 4 individuals occupied the Honda Civic. This location is a 2-lane roadway. One lane is designated for northwest travel, and the other lane is designated for southeast travel. The preliminary investigation revealed the Jeep Liberty was traveling northwest along the Interstate 10 Frontage Road in the correct lane. The Honda Civic was traveling southeast and was traveling wrong-way, in the Jeep Liberty’s Lane. The vehicles collided head-on, causing significant damage. No signs of impairment from either driver were observed.

The investigation is currently ongoing. At this time, no citations or arrests have been made.
