Marana Police Department earns two grants worth $81,590 for overtime funding and equipment.
MARANA- The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has awarded the Marana Police Department two grants totaling $81,590 for overtime funding and equipment.
DUI/Impaired Driving Enforcement Grant – GOHS has awarded the Marana Police Department $46,200 in grant funding for Federal Fiscal Year 2026 to conduct DUI enforcement throughout the Town of Marana. The goal of the funding is to reduce the incidence of alcohol and drug related driving, fatalities and injuries through enforcement, education, and public awareness.
Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Grant – GOHS has awarded the Marana Police Department with $35,390 in grant funding for Federal Fiscal Year 2026 to conduct speed and traffic enforcement throughout the Town of Marana, and to purchase RADAR equipment. The goal of this grant is to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries resulting from speeding, aggressive driving, red light running and other forms of risky driving behavior through enforcement, education and public awareness.

The Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) is committed toward achieving zero fatalities on Arizona roadways. Their mission is to create a comprehensive and coordinated approach integrating highway safety programs through leadership, funding, public awareness, and community engagement throughout Arizona. GOHS funds programs aimed at enhancing road safety; addressing critical areas such as Speed and Reckless Driving, Impaired Driving, Occupant Protection, Motorcycle Safety and Pedestrian/Bicycle Safety.
They provide leadership by developing, promoting, and coordinating programs that influence public and private policy by increasing public awareness of highway safety issues.
