Fatal Vehicle Collision Investigation

W. TWIN PEAKS ROAD / N. BLUE BONNET ROAD

Marana, AZ – On September 13th, 2025 at approximately 4:09 AM., Marana Police Department officers and personnel from the Northwest Fire District responded to a report of a vehicle collision near W. Twin Peaks Road and N. Blue Bonnet Road. The single-vehicle collision involved a 2021 Chrysler 300. Upon arrival, officers located a male individual outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was engulfed in flames. The driver was pronounced deceased on-scene. He was identified as 42-year-old Jesus Verdugo. Next of kin has been notified. The Marana Police Department Traffic Unit responded to continue the investigation.

Roadway evidence on-scene revealed the Chrysler 300 was traveling southbound on W. Twin Peaks Road at a high rate of speed near N. Blue Bonnet Road. The Chrysler 300 drove over the median and entered the desert area, at which time the vehicle flipped over and caught fire. The driver was ejected. Excessive speed is believed to be the major contributing factor in this investigation.

The investigation is currently ongoing. At this time, no citations or arrests have been made.
