Marana recognizes retiring Police Sergeant

MARANA- The Town is recognizing Sergeant Adam Lawson for his 21 years of service with the Marana Police Department.

Sergeant Lawson is retiring from the department after spending his entire career in law enforcement serving the Marana community.

His last day on the force was on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

Sergeant Lawson began his career after graduating from the Central Arizona Regional Law Officer Training Academy in 2002. Throughout his time with MPD, he has served in many assignments including as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, General Instructor, School Resource Officer and Sergeant.

He has also received numerous awards and certificates to include the Chief’s Citation of Excellence Award, Lifesaving Award, the David’s Hope Award and the Sons of the American Revolution Officer of the Year Award.

Mayor Honea issued a proclamation recognizing Sergeant Lawson for his many years of service and the impact he has had on the Town of Marana.

Sergeant Lawson is now looking forward to spending his retirement with his family and traveling. He was also recently named the Coordinator for Threat Assessment and Management at the University of Arizona.
