Save money by conserving water

MARANA- Fall and winter months provide a great opportunity to save water, especially outdoors when plants become less active and evaporation rates are lower.

But did you know that using less water in the months of December, January and February also saves money on the sewer portion of your water bill? Marana and Pima County sewer rates are calculated by averaging the water used in December, January, and February.

Reducing your irrigation and overall water use during these months ultimately saves water and money.

Need some winter water saving tips?

  • Provide your plants only the water they need

  • Make seasonal adjustments to your irrigation schedule

  • Give your grass a break. Consider not reseeding your lawn in the fall/winter

  • Try to reschedule pool draining

Fall is also a great time to plant low water use plants in your yard. Choosing plants that have a lower water requirement is ideal in our arid environment. Many plants are suitable for our area and do well while using less water.
