Marana Mayor and Council honor Jana Stransky for her years in public service

After spending a total of 27 years in public service working in the Public Works Department and Development Services, Jana is retiring as the Sr. Executive Assistant on October 8, 2021.

Jana Stransky joined the Town of Marana on July 1, 1994 as a Clerk Typist in the Public Works Department. Council Member Ed Honea encouraged her to apply, as he recognized how pleasant and friendly she was while serving him ice cream in her place of employment.

During her tenure with the Town of Marana, Jana has held many titles in her career including: Public Works Clerk (1994); promotion to Administrative Secretary for Public Works (1996); promotion to Project Coordinator for Public Works (2000); Administrative Coordinator for Public Works (2007); Sr. Administrative Assistant for Public Works (2007); Executive Assistant for Engineer:ing (2013), and Sr. Executive Assistant for Engineering; she even implemented the Town's Wayfinding Program including innovating the program to a digital format.

Jana is a two-time cancer survivor. She appreciates her coworkers and colleagues that provided support, comfort, encouragement, and care during that difficult time in her life, and she is grateful for the many friendships she has gained during her career. Jana is also appreciative to all of her coworkers and management team for pushing her to work toward obtaining higher goals. Jana has now set her sights on spending time with her children and grandchildren in her retirement years.

The Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana commend and thank Jana Stransky for her lengthy career in public service and her dedication to the Marana community, and urge its citizens join them in congratulating her on her retirement.
