Town of Marana Honors Parks and Recreation Director with Street Naming

MARANA- The Town of Marana is thrilled to announce a new street name in recognition of Parks and Recreation Director Jim Conroy and his many contributions to the community.

In a heartfelt surprise announcement on May 2, 2025, Town Manager Terry Rozema honored Jim Conroy with a special street name designation of Jim Conroy Place, which leads to the Marana Aquatic & Recreation Center (MARC) parking lot from Marana Main Street. The announcement took place in a gathering outside the MARC last Friday evening. The sign was then installed by Public Works Supervisor Rich Jacinto. 

This tribute serves as a lasting reminder of Conroy’s dedication and leadership over the past eight years. As Parks and Recreation Director, Conroy has been instrumental in growing the department’s programs as well as overseeing major projects including the development of the MARC itself. 

“When I think about a director, a leader for a Parks and Recreation Department, I cannot think of a person who is better suited than Jim Conroy and his leadership for our Parks and Recreation Department has taken it to a whole new level. He has done such a phenomenal job of raising up the good leaders underneath him to prepare our community for the future generations to come,” said Town Manager Terry Rozema.

This surprise announcement was made during a celebration of the unveiling of the Town of Marana's newest public art installation 'Points in Time'. This public art piece is a part of the Marana Aquatics & Recreation Center.
