*POSTPONED* ADOT: Westbound I-10 closure overnight on July 2

UPDATE FROM ADOT: The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists that a closure associated with the I-10 Ina to Ruthrauff roads widening project has been postponed. 

• Postponed: Westbound River Road will be closed from Shannon Road to Camino de la Tierra from 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 3. Westbound motorists will be detoured north onto Shannon Road towards Orange Grove Road.

A date for this closure has not been identified at this time. Another traffic alert will be sent out once the work has been rescheduled.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to plan ahead for an overnight lane closure and traffic shift on River Road as crews finish work on the I-10 Ina to Ruthrauff Roads widening project.

According to ADOT, this project will update the current one-lane configuration on River Road to a two-lane configuration.

CLOSURE DETAILS:

• Westbound River Road will be closed from Shannon Road to Camino de la Tierra from 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 3. Westbound motorists will be detoured north onto Shannon Road towards Orange Grove Road.

• Westbound traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed section of River Road at 5 a.m. Thursday, July 3. 

• Eastbound River Road will remain open but may experience delays. 

Drivers should expect delays, obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices and use caution around construction personnel.
