A message from Chief Pridgett of the Marana Police Department
Published on October 15, 2025
This morning, a resident reported hearing a round of gunfire at the Gladden Farms Community Park. We can now confirm that there was a stray bullet that struck the monkey bars. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Our officers determined the round came from the Marana Shooting Club, which was closed to the public but authorized to be used for rifle training by Sahuarita Police Department. A round traveled beyond the range boundaries.
Sahuarita Police Department is conducting an internal investigation of the incident. A separate police investigation will be conducted to determine why a bullet went outside of the range confinements. The Attorney General’s Office will be requested to conduct a review of the safety of the Marana Shooting Club, as it is a state-licensed gun range and outside of the Town’s purview.
We understand that this incident is deeply concerning for our residents and the families who frequent the area, and we take these concerns very seriously. We have contacted Marana Shooting Club, and they have confirmed that they've shut down the portion of the gun range impacting Gladden Farms Community Park until safety measures are evaluated.
We remain committed to transparency and accountability, and to our mission to provide unparalleled service, unwavering protection, and to do so with uncompromised integrity.
Thank you for your continued trust as we work together to keep Marana safe.
Chief Jeffrey Pridgett of the Marana Police Department
