MARANA- The Town of Marana is drying out the El Rio Preserve lake for geotechnical testing and survey work.
The work is part of the El Rio Preserve CIP Project to construct a healthier, more sustainable and deeper lake during the Fall of 2023.
βThe Town has contracted with an engineering firm so we can do some geotechnical surveys and aerial surveys of the lakebed itself. The soil sampling, geotechnical, will help us decide what kind of system or liner we are going to use for the lake once we get to the next phase and the aerial surveys will help us with the topography of the area and again allow us to better understand what the property is right now and where we need it to be in the future,β said Natural Resources Supervisor Jason Grodman.
Once the samples are collected and surveys complete, the Cortaro Marana Irrigation District will begin refilling the lake.
The Town of Marana is hoping to have the project completed by Thanksgiving for the public to enjoy.
