MARANA- Town of Marana sandbags are stocked and ready for community members preparing for the start of the monsoon season.

According to the National Weather Service, the Monsoon officially begins on June 15, 2025. However, the Town of Marana’s Storm Preparedness Plan went into effect on June 1, 2025 to ensure residents and infrastructure are ready for potential flooding.

Self-filling sandbag stations are now open at three locations.

  • 10050 N. Coachline Boulevard (Behind Pima County Water Reclamation Center) *new location
  • 4228 W. Tangerine Road (Camino De Manana & Tangerine NE Corner)
  • 12280 N. Heritage Park Drive (Heritage Park parking lot)

Sandbag stations are open 24/7, seven days a week. To accommodate as many people as possible, there is a limit of 20 sandbags per resident. Shovels are not provided.

Those in need of special assistance, please contact the Marana Public Works Department at 520-382-2536.

Marana’s Public Works Department, along with various other departments have protocols in place to protect the traveling public in the event of an emergency. The storm preparedness plan aims to keep the streets safe and ensure safe passage for residents and visitors during the monsoon season (June 1- Sept 30).

Town staff will continuously monitor alerts from the National Weather Service in Tucson as well as the Pima County Regional Flood District ALERT System to assess flooding potential and respond quickly if necessary.

SAFETY REMINDER:

As weather patterns shift and flood risks increase, Public Works crews will mobilize barricades to dip crossings throughout the Town. Please do not drive around or cross barricaded streets. Barricaded streets are a sign that unsafe conditions exist. Most vehicles float and are swept downstream in as little as 6 inches to one foot of water. When in doubt, take an alternate route. REMEMBER- TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.
