Marana celebrates 25 Years of Ironwood Forest National Monument
Published on June 09, 2025
MARANA-The Town of Marana has proclaimed June 9, 2025, as Ironwood Forest Day, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Ironwood Forest National Monument.
Mayor Jon Post issued the proclamation during the council meeting on June 3, 2025 surrounded by representatives of the Friends of the Ironwood Forest group.
The national monument, established by presidential proclamation on June 9, 2000, continues to play a vital role in the region’s tourism, recreation, and conservation efforts.
In celebration of this milestone, Discover Marana has launched a community-wide photo and sticker design contest, inviting photographers and artists to showcase the natural beauty of the Ironwood Forest. Winning entries will be featured in the 2025 Discover Marana Visitor Guide, with the top design earning a spot on the cover.
“This contest is a chance for the community to share their love for Ironwood Forest in a creative and meaningful way,” said Stefanie Boe, Tourism and Marketing Manager at Discover Marana. “If you’ve never been to this hidden gem near Marana, now is your chance to go and be inspired. Just be sure to do it safely as temperatures rise.”
The contest is ongoing and the winners will be announced on July 11, 2025.
