Work begins to connect Chuck Huckelberry Loop to North Marana

MARANA- The Town of Marana is pleased to announce that the long-awaited segment connecting the Chuck Huckelberry Loop trail system north of Avra Valley Road into the North Marana/Gladden Farms area is currently under construction.

Borderland Construction Company started construction earlier this year and is making great progress. 30,000 residents in North Marana will now be connected to the entire 131-mile Chuck Huckelberry Loop trail system. This path is on the east bank of the Santa Cruz River, adjacent to CalPortland Cement Plant going into North Marana.

This project is the result of many Town of Marana and Pima County and CalPortland staff working together over the years to complete this important Regional Trail connection. This project is a great example of local government agencies working together with the private sector for the community’s benefit.

This project is scheduled to be completed in late Summer/early Fall 2024.

The project was funded by the Town of Marana Capital Improvement Program (CIP), with support from the Pima County Flood Control District (PCFCD). This is a significant regional trail connection on the Chuck Huckelberry Loop 131-mile trail system.
