Marana PD competes in Motorcycle Training & Competition

MARANA- Two Marana Police Motorcycle Officers placed in the top five of two events at the 26th annual Southwest Police Motorcycle Training and Competition in Tucson.

Agencies from around the state participated in the competition including Oro Valley Police, Tucson Police, Pima Community College Police, Phoenix Police and Mesa Police. Several agencies also traveled from out of the state to be participate in the event last week.

It was held at the Kino Sports Complex and was hosted by the Tucson Police Department. All of the proceeds go to Kent’s Heart and Hope Foundation.

 72 riders competed in three different classes.

Marana Police Officer James Jolly and Officer John Perryman with the Motors Unit placed fourth overall in the Pair Riding Class and fifth overall in the Team Ride. The Team Ride competition is a four-rider team made up of MPD, OVPD and the Pima Community College Police Department.

Officer Jolly also ranked 21st overall in the BMW class. Officer Perryman placed 40th overall in the same class.

Marana Police Volunteers Darrel Gleddie, Linda Rutherford and Kathy Nelson helped out during the event.
