Marana Councilmembers receive award for years of public service

Two Town of Marana Councilmembers were recognized by the League of Cities and Towns on September 2, 2021, for their years of public service.

Town of Marana Councilmember Herb Kai received an award for 28 years of public service. Kai has served on the boards of the Cortaro Marana Irrigation District, the Southern Arizona Water Users Association, and the Arizona Department of Water Resources. Born and raised in Marana, Kai is a self-employed pecan rancher and cotton farmer. He is married to Diana Kai and has a son and daughter. To read more about Councilmember Herb Kai, click here.

Town of Marana Councilmember Patti Comerford received an award for 20 years of service. Comerford has been elected to three terms on the Town Council, beginning in 2001. She served as vice mayor from 2011 to 2013. She served seven years on the Marana Planning and Zoning Commission, including time as the chair. Since 1994, she and her family have lived in Continental Ranch, where she served on the HOA's Activities and Finance committees. She also has been a member of the Marana Optimist Club and President of the Marana High School Band Boosters. LEAGUE OF ARIZONA CITIES AND TOWNS

The League of Arizona Cities and Towns, a voluntary membership organization of the incorporated municipalities in Arizona, exists to provide vital services and tools to all its members, focusing principally on representing the interests of cities and towns before the legislature, and secondarily on providing technical and legal assistance, coordinating shared services and producing high quality conference and educational events.
