Town of Marana Police Department Receives Grant Funding from Governor’s Office of Highway Safety

Town of Marana Police Department (MPD) has been awarded grant funding in the amount of $45,000 from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for the purpose of additional warrant enforcement. The goal of this grant is to reduce the multiple costs associated with DUI through aggressive enforcement. This award will support overtime expenses.

The Marana Police Department would like to thank the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for continuing to help make the Town of Marana a safe place for citizens to live, work, and shop.


GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY

The cost of impaired driving is high in terms of money, criminal, and human consequences. The Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) is the focal point for highway safety issues in Arizona. GOHS, a cabinet agency, provides leadership by developing, promoting, and coordinating programs; influencing public and private policy; and increasing public awareness of highway safety. The goals and objectives of GOHS is to reduce impaired driving, including conducting training programs, purchasing detecting equipment, testing, and enforcing laws against driving, flying, or boating while impaired.
