WHERE WE STARTED
The Marana Water Department began in 1997. Water has always been an integral part of the Town of Marana's history. One of the factors for incorporation in 1977 was to protect water rights of those living in the area at the time.
In 1997, there were approximately 500 water customers. We now have over 6,500 and are growing. The seven water systems covering both north and south parts of Marana are managed and maintained by a strong staff of 27. These dedicated water professionals can provide information on water quality, rates and fees, utilities engineering, water resources, water production and distribution, water conservation, and water reclamation.
In 2010, the department put together a Potable Water Master Plan. This plan is used to project the infrastructure and water resource needs as the department grows. The plan can be found here.
WHERE WE WORK
WHAT WE DO
WATER PRODUCTIONS AND DISTRIBUTION
The staff of the Water Production and Distribution team ensure that our wells, reservoirs, pumps, and all the water lines are running smoothly and efficiently.
The staff working in the Water Resources division are tasked with ensuring we have the proper water resources for our growing community. They manage the water portfolio including the CAP water allocation, and all other water credits. They are vital to the long term health of our department and the Town.
The Engineering staff ensure everything built is safe and sustainable. They review plans and inspect work done in the Town to make sure our customers and citizens are safe.
The Business Services team includes the front office staff answering customer questions, taking payments, processing billing, and new service requests.
Our dedicated Water Reclamation staff are hard at work processing and treating the wastewater in the Marana service area. They maintain the Marana Wastewater Treatment Facility.
