Eastbound Interstate 10 frontage road near Ina Road returns to one-way configuration April 21

The eastbound Interstate 10 frontage road between Cortaro and Ina roads will revert to to a one-way road starting the night of Sunday, April 21.

The frontage road will be narrowed to a single lane so crews can work on the slopes between eastbound I-10 and the eastbound frontage road.

In addition, crews plan to pave the eastbound frontage road between Cortaro Road and Starcommerce Way starting the night of Friday, April 26. That will affect traffic on both Cortaro Road and the frontage road. Additional details will be released next week about this work.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

Traffic Alert: Coachline Boulevard Reconstruction Project

Coachline Boulevard Reconstruction Project – Twin Peaks Road south to Silverbell Road and from Twin Peaks Road north to Silverbell Road

The Town of Marana is currently working on the Coachline Blvd. Reconstruction and Pedestrian Crossing Improvements.  The work is being completed by Sunland Asphalt & Construction.

-On Friday, April 19th, the contractor will begin the reconstruction of Colony Park Drive, from Coachline Blvd. to Weather Hill Drive.  During this work, Colony Park Drive will be open to local traffic only and construction will last approximately 2 weeks, weather permitting

-On Friday, April 19th, the contractor will begin the reconstruction of Coachline Blvd., from the Pump Station (north of Oak Stream Road and El Rio Neighborhood) to the low-water crossing on Coachline Blvd. north of Twin Peaks Road, between Idle Wild Drive and Armor Crest Road.  (See map – Phase 1)

Once this northern portion of Coachline is complete, the contractor will begin the reconstruction of Coachline Blvd., from the low-water crossing on Coachline Boulevard, between Idle Wild Drive and Armor Crest Road, to Twin Peaks Road.  (See map – Phase 2). 

Due to the existing roadway width, these phases of work will require restricting traffic in a one-way (southbound) only configuration.  Northbound Coachline Blvd. will be completely closed.  Work on both phases of Coachline Blvd. is expected to be completed in early June.

Scheduled dates are weather dependent.

Work during these phases will include:

  • Milling and removing the old asphalt

  • Cement treatment of the subgrade soils

  • New asphalt paving and striping

  • Americans with Disabilities (ADA) ramp removal and replacement on streets and sidewalks.

Construction-related issues to be aware of:

  • Heavy equipment and large trucks during the milling and paving

  • Temporary driveway access restrictions while crews are in front of homes and/or businesses.

  • Travel lane restrictions and short-term sidewalk closures while ramps and crossing signals are upgraded.

  • Please DO NOT park vehicles in the area of construction as they will be towed at owner’s expense.

  • Bicycle traffic will not be permitted through the work area.

Pedestrians will be permitted along Coachline Blvd., but be aware of equipment and workers in the construction area.

Residents and the traveling public should watch for heavy equipment in and near the construction area. For the safety of you and the workers, please comply with traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and detour signs.

The Town of Marana is nearing the completion of the paving portion of the Ina Beautification Project. The week of April 15 all of the paving on side streets north of Ina Road was completed and mainline final paving for Ina Road will begin the week of April 22. Expect heavy delays of up to an hour near work areas and avoid work areas if possible.

The paving will begin Monday, April 22 and be completed by Friday April 26, 2019 Ina road from Ulene Place to the Canada del Oro Bridge. Construction will begin at 6:00 A.M and continue through 6:00 P.M.

Striping and painting will begin Monday, April 29, but is not expected to cause any delays.

Travel time through the project area may increase during construction so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction may restrict traffic lanes and create congestion. Taking alternate routes is suggested.

  • Expect intermittent lane closures on both eastbound and westbound I-10 between Twin Peaks and Sunset roads for sign work.

  • Eastbound I-10 will be reduced to a single lane between Cortaro and Ina roads. 

  • Flaggers will control traffic on Ina Road near I-10. 

Work is scheduled to be complete by 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 16.

Motorists who use eastbound Interstate 10 between Cortaro and Ina roads should expect a lane closure the night of Thursday, April 11.

The right lane of eastbound I-10 will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping.

The lane closure is in addition to the previously announced daytime paving work on Ina Road. The on-going Ina Road work requires lane closures and traffic shifts through Monday, April 15, between Silverbell Road and Camino de las Capas.

The Town of Marana is nearing the completion of the paving portion of the Ina Beautification Project. Below is a schedule of the final paving projects.

Paving on side streets North of Ina road will begin on Thursday April 11 and continue through April 19th. Paving will begin at 7:00 a.m. and continue to 4:00 p.m. Expect delays and use alternate streets when possible. 

Thursday, April 11, 2019 – Oldfather Road and Ulene Place
Friday, April 12, 2019 – Juniper Road
Monday, April 15, 2019 – Thornydale Road at Ina

Traffic Alert: Lane restrictions on Interstate 10, Ina Road the week of April 8

Motorists on Interstate 10 and Ina Road in Marana will encounter various lane restrictions starting Monday, April 8, as crews begin the final work to prepare for the opening of the I-10/Ina Road interchange.

  • Starting Monday, April 8, crews will begin paving Ina Road between Camino de las Capas and Silverbell Road. Work is scheduled between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily, including Saturday and Sunday, for about one week. Ina Road will remain open through the work zone, but drivers should expect flaggers, intermittent traffic shifts and delays. 

  • On Monday, April 8, Camino de las Capas will close between Ina Road and Camino de Oeste for paving between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Camino de Oeste will be open as a detour, however, a flagger will limit traffic on Camino de Oeste to a single direction at a time. Motorists should consider an alternate route. 

  • Ina Road between Camino de las Capas and Silverbell Road will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers controlling traffic in a single direction at a time while crews remove temporary barriers from 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 10.

  • I-10 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between Orange Grove and Cortaro roads from 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, to 5 a.m. Thursday, April 11 so crews can remove temporary concrete barriers.

The I-10/Ina Road ramps are set to reopen to traffic in mid-April.

Motorists who use Interstate 10 near Ina Road should expect lane closures the nights of Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4.

The left lanes of both eastbound and westbound I-10 will be closed near Ina Road between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

In addition, drivers will encounter a temporary traffic shift on westbound Ina Road near I-10 on Friday, April 5, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ina Road will remain open with a single lane in each direction. Law enforcement will be on site directing traffic, at times.

UPDATE - Due to a construction delay final paving on Aerie Drive will begin on Friday, March 29 and conclude on Monday, April 1.

Aerie Drive  reconstruction will begin on Monday, March 25, 2019 through Monday, April 1, 2019. Construction crews will mill and repave the surface of the road. Expect lane closures and traffic delays.

Motorists who use Interstate 10 near Ina Road should expect overnight lane closures starting Tuesday, March 26.

Lane closures are scheduled in the following locations:

  • March 26 - Eastbound and westbound I-10 near Ina Road between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.

  • March 28 - Westbound I-10 near Ina Road between 8 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday

  • March 29 - The far right lane of both eastbound and westbound I-10 will be closed near Ina Road between 8 p.m Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday

The lane closures will allow crews to complete striping, move barriers and other work.

Portions of Marana Road at Sandario Road will be closed beginning on Monday, March 25, 2019 through Friday, March 29, 2019. The closure will be in place to construct a traffic control median. Sandario traffic will not be affected. Marana Road drivers should use the traffic circle located at Sandario Road  and Marana Main Street.

This will only impact the western portion of the intersection. All driveways to Circle K will remain open.

Milling work will begin at the Ina Road and Thornydale Road intersection and adjacent side streets the week of March 18.

Beginning Monday March 18 Meredith Blvd, Firestone Alley, Juniper Road, and Ulene Place will be milled in preparation for final pave.

Oldfather Road will be milled on Tuesday March 19.

The Ina/Thornydale intersection will be milled on Wednesday March 20. Milling on Ina Road and Thornydale Road will happen between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in an effort to minimize impacts during rush hour. Expect heavy delays.

Coachline Boulevard Reconstruction – Twin Peaks to Silverbell

Between March 11 through March 22, 2019, the contractor will begin milling (remove existing pavement) and paving operations along Coachline Boulevard south of Twin Peaks Road and at the intersection of Continental Reserve Loop (north end) at Silverbell Road. This work schedule is dependent on weather. Rain may delay the operation.

During the week of March 18 – 22, Continental Loop Reserve will be closed at its intersection with Silverbell Road/Coachline Boulevard. This will allow the contractor to complete the work during the Spring Break holiday, thereby reducing impact to the traveling public:

  • North and southbound through traffic at Continental Reserve Loop will not be permitted
    All southbound turn movements from Silverbell Road to Continental Reserve Loop will be restricted
    East and westbound travel on Silverbell Road will be maintained
    Northbound turn movements from Silverbell Road to Coachline Boulevard will be maintained
    Access to businesses will be maintained
    North and southbound traffic will be shifted as work progresses
    One travel-lane in each direction will be maintained
    Access to side streets will be intermittently impacted as work crews and equipment move through the area       
    Turn movements from Coachline Boulevard to both Twin Peaks and Silverbell roads will be   maintained
    REMINDER – Vehicles parked on Coachline Boulevard will be towed at owners’ expense
    Inclement weather or mechanical failure may impact this operation

On Wednesday, February 27, 2019 the Town of Marana and its contractor will begin work to remove and replace areas of failing curb and various other concrete work installations on Coachline Boulevard, from Twin Peaks Road north to Silverbell Road

  • The contractor will complete work along the northbound side of Coachline Boulevard first and then work on the southbound side of the roadway.

  • Traffic will be shifted around the work area.

  • Bike lanes will be closed. Cyclist should use an alternate route when possible.

  • Access to residential areas will be maintained.

  • Work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 (weather permitting) and is expected to take approximately two-months to complete.

Motorists who use Interstate 10 near Ina Road should expect lane closures the nights of Feb. 23 and Feb. 26.

On Saturday, Feb, 23, eastbound I-10 will be reduced to a single lane between Cortaro and Sunset roads from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. Crews will shift eastbound traffic to the inside lanes by the time all lanes re-open to traffic.

On Tuesday, Feb. 26, westbound I-10 will be reduced to a single lane between Sunset and Cortaro roads from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for barrier work.

The asphalt milling operation scheduled to begin this week, and the paving operation scheduled for the week of February 25 through March 1, along the two southbound lanes and one northbound (curb) lane of Coachline Boulevard between Silverbell Road and the recently repaired low water crossing area, has been postponed.

Postponement is due to inclement weather with additional forecasted rain through the week. The milling andpaving operations will be rescheduled for a later date. 

New details for the milling and paving operation will be provided prior to work beginning.

The Sandario Road Roundabout will close for one month beginning on February 18, 2019. The closure will occur to install a new inner curb and truck apron that will aid in smoother traffic flow for large vehicles.

Traffic will be detoured around the round-about using a paved detour. Trucks with trailers should use the frontage road to Grier as an alternate.

During the week of February 11, 2019, the contractor will begin work at the pedestrian crossing on Coachline Boulevard near Rivulet Drive and the Continental Ranch Community Association Center. 

 Work at the crossing is scheduled to take approximately one month to complete*. Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists in the area should expect the following:

  • Pedestrians and cyclists wishing to cross at this location will be directed to a temporary crossing location during this work.

  • Rivulet Drive, at Coachline Boulevard, will have intermittent closures during this work.

  • Coachline Boulevard will be reduced to one travel-lane in each direction. Traffic will be shifted as work progresses across the roadway.

  • Left-turn movements will be permitted but will not be from a dedicated turn lane.

  • Access to Continental Ranch Community Center will have intermittent restrictions while work is completed.

  • Sidewalk and ADA access at the intersection of Coachline Boulevard and Rivulet Drive will be restricted during this work. Residents who typically use Rivulet Drive should utilize Maple Ridge Drive for access as often as possible while the pedestrian crossing operation is underway.

  • REMINDER – Vehicles parked on Coachline Boulevard will be towed at owners’ expense.


*The new pedestrian crossing at Rivulet Drive will re-open after the final paving and striping operation is completed. Weather permitting, paving of this section of Coachline Boulevard is expected to be complete by mid-March 2019.

Travel time through the project area may increase during construction so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction may restrict traffic lanes and create congestion. Taking alternate routes is suggested.

Ina Road left turn closures to Meredith Blvd

On Monday February 11, 2019, the left-turn lane on Ina Road and Meredith will be closed from 8:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

The left-turn lane is being closed to install vehicle detection equipment necessary for proper functioning of the traffic signal. Please use an alternate route.
